The 2008 Beijing Olympics

Should we boycott or not? Should we use the Olympics to pressure China to make some significant changes to their Human Rights practices? Should sports be 'used' to bring about change in non-sport areas??

i think we should boycott it, otherwise the government just wouldn't get it. it's outrageous.

I think that a boycott is complely neccesary in the situation it will send a message to the world and to the Chinese government

I definately think something should be done. The Olympics are supposed to be showing the cooperation of nations, and what's happening just isn't acceptable. They can't just host it ignoring this fact. I think this could be a great opportunity to make a difference there.

I also think that the Olympics DEFINETLY should not be used that way. It is completely inappropriate to try and force another government to our norm. Boycotting is a good idea to let the government know that this kind of action is not acceptable. And speaking of action, does anyone know where the torch is now? I heard they were having some trouble with that...

Sorry, confused back there, I meant that it is not appropiate to try and force another government, but China has some serious problems with human rights, once again, I think the rebels and boycotting are a result of this injustice. But maybe it will help the Chinese government to see that the honor of the Olympics could be taken away because of their bad action.

The Olympic torch made it to the top of Everest today - did you hear about that?? 'Google' it to see images and video. Quite an accomplishment!!

It all comes down to one thing, if the government is being inhumane we have every right to boycott, if it is just about a disagreeance on an issue then no boycotting. When it comes to the issue about humanitarianism that is way beyond a political issue. THat is against the law, that is a human issue. and the olympic games are the human games

Greetings McQuarrie Enrichment Centre Alumni. We had an extraordinary experience during our exploits beneath the foundations of Suddaby Public School and would like to extend our dearest thanks to our classmates and teachers. Now we feel the need to discuss the possibility of a second reunion. Perhaps a miniature golf expedition followed by a hearty meal at Boston Pizza is in order? Or leisurely stroll upon the parking lot of a local Kelsey's? Are there any more suggestions? They will definitely be taken into account!

Sincerely,
Petrie
